There is no denying it. The profession is dying. The world is changing and the rate of change is increasing all the time. I was in KC Friday talking to a great group of orthodontists and Dr. Clarence Simmons said something that gave me a clear vision of our future. “They didn’t want to offend anyone” will be on the tombstone of our profession if we keep doing what we’ve been doing and refuse to speak up (and that is the most likely scenario).

We are The Hollow Men that T.S Eliot so elequently describes…

“This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.”

  1. Spot on, as usual Ben. Problem is, the old guys in charge don’t want to upset their old guy PCD mates who refer to them and never have and never will do ortho.
We have exactly the same problem in Australia.
Here they don’t even see the need for a marketing campaign? Why waste good dollars if nothing is wrong?
