I am not an accountant or a CPA and you shouldn’t take my suggestion as tax advice. Be sure to talk to a CPA licensed in your state before taking any action! That being said my CPA pointed out that since it appears that the new tax legislation will become law, it’s a good idea to pay your 2017 state income tax before the end of the year since state income tax will no longer qualify as a deduction on your federal income tax bill. He’s a smart guy and this sounds wholly logical to me so I wanted to pass it along to all of you.
